Description

Methane is an organic compound with the formula CH4 and a molecular weight of 16.043. Methane is the simplest organic matter and the hydrocarbon with the least carbon (and the most hydrogen). Methane is widely distributed in nature and is the main component of natural gas, biogas and pit gas, commonly known as gas. It can be used as fuel and raw material for the manufacture of hydrogen, carbon black, carbon monoxide, acetylene, hydrocyanic acid and formaldehyde.

Application

Methane is used mainly as a fuel, such as natural gas and gas, and is widely used in civil and industrial applications.
