Description

Chlorine gas is asphyxiating, denser than air, soluble in water and alkalisolution, easy to dissolve in organic solvents (such as carbon disulfide and carbon tetrachloride), easy to compress, can be liquefied into yellow-green oil liquid chlorine, is one of the main products of the chlor-alkali industry, can be used as a strong oxidant. When hydrogen gas with volume fraction of more than 5% is mixed in chlorine gas, it may be dangerous to explode when exposed to strong light.

Application

Chemical industry is used in the production of sodium hypochlorite,aluminum trichloride, ferric chloride, bleach powder, bromine, phosphorus trichloride and other inorganic chemical products, but also used in the production of organic chlorides, such as chloroacetic acid, epichlorohydrin, benzene and so on.

Mainly used in the production of plastics (such as PVP), synthetic fibers, dyes, pesticides, disinfectants, bleach solvents and various chlorides.
