Description

Deuterium is a heavier stable isotope of ordinary hydrogen. It is a colorless, odorless, non-toxic flammable gas. Its boiling point is -249.5℃. Like molecular hydrogen, diatomic deuterium molecules also have positive and secondary isomerism. At room temperature, the equilibrium composition of a mixture of positive and secondary isomers of deuterium is 2:1, and this deuterium is called normal deuterium. Lowering the temperature facilitates the conversion to n-deuterium. At 20.4K, the equilibrium mixture contains 97.8% positive deuterium, which is called equilibrium deuterium.

Application

Description for this block. Use this space for describing your block. Any text will do.

The production of compounds containing heavy hydrogen in chemical and biochemical fields. The amount of deuterium molecules can be used to study the reaction rate and reaction mechanism.

Hydrogen is replaced in the silicon sintering or annealing process in the semiconductor, flat panel display, solar cell and other electronic industries.

Applied to nuclear fusion reactions.
